Few hotels offer their own private shuttles because of the numerous inexpensive commercial shuttles continually running between the airport and the area hotels. Shuttles can be found outside the baggage claim area...look for the signs. The cost of a trip from the airport to strip hotels is around $5-$6 each way. Some shuttle companies pick up at the Excalibur on the hour and on the 1/2 hours, but please confirm with the shuttle company the time and location of pick-up. Keep in mind most shuttles will make multiple stops at hotels along the way, you might want to confirm whether the shuttle stops at the Excalibur early or late in its route. Taxis in Las Vegas are available at the airport and at the Excalibur. The close proximity of the Excalibur to the airport makes this a reasonable transportation method to the Excalibur from/to the airport. Expect the fare to be somewhere around $13.00 plus tip per cab load (maximum of 5 people). It is always wise to confirm the approximate fare with the driver before departing so you do not get an undesired sightseeing trip along the way! Keep in mind that this method will leave when you want and will go directly to your destination without making multiple stops. This may be especially desirable when returning to the airport. In general, car rentals are not be needed; however, if your transportation needs may require more than a couple of short taxi rides per day or involve sightseeing away from the strip, then a rental car may be desired. All the activities at the Excalibur; its close proximity to other hotels, MGM Grand, New York-New York, Tropicana, the tram to originating at the Excalibur going to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay, as well as, the monorail access across the street at the MGM Grand providing access to the entire strip, provides a lot of options without the worries or hassles of driving. The main McCarran Rent-a-Car Center is a few minutes away from the airport with shuttle buses providing transportation every 5 minutes to/from the rental center to the airport. Note that Southwest Airlines has a booth and kiosks at the McCarran Rent-a-Car Center that allow you to print your boarding pass prior to arriving at the airport. You may also check your luggage with Southwest Airlines at the McCarran Rent-a-Car Center for a cost of $20/bag checked. The Southwest booth and kiosks are located just inside the doors near the exit to the buses. The Las Vegas Monorail provides easy access up and down the strip (route map) with the convenient access to nearest station to the Excalibur at the MGM Station across the street (note that there are pedestrian walkways/bridges that provide access to the both the MGM Grand, New York-New York and Tropicana. The Las Vegas trolley also provide you with another option for transportation around the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown (route map). |
